Profile: Dilma Rousseff


  Dilma Rousseff was born in Belo Horizonte, formed an economist at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. The former minister started his political career at age 16 in Minas Gerais. Dilma is married with Claudius Galen (journalist). The marriage did not last and Dilma remarried with lawyer Carlos Franklin. Rousseff moved to Porto Alegre in 1972. In 1976, Paula Rousseff Araujo was born, his only daughter.
In 1980, she helped found the PDT, the caption which remained affiliated until 2001, when she joined his current label. She was then invited to occupy the folder of Mines and Energy in 2003. Rousseff remained in front of the ministry until June 2005.
  She replaced former minister José Dirceu. In April 2009, revealed that she was undergoing treatment for lymphoma. After sessions of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, Dilma says he cured cancer and only months later; the PT formalized his candidacy for president in the 2010 elections.
  In the second round of votes, emerged victorious from urns. Dilma took office on January 1.
